Green cloth with black lettering; slight bumping at spine ends; minor mottling along board edges. Some foxing upon deckle fore-edge and endpapers; 1947 ownership inscription upon front free endpaper. Interior pages are clean. A very good copy in a very good- dust jacket. Second novel by Meridian, Mississippi author William Edward Kimbrough (1918-1965) who earned a Masters of Fine Arts degree from the University of Alabama under the tutelage of legendary professor Hudson Strode whom Kimbrough joined teaching creative writing classes from 1941 to 1950. Kimbrough is flatteringly described by Patti Carr Black and Marion Barnwell in their TOURING LITERARY MISSISSIPPI (University Press of Mississippi, 2002) as "but for his early death . . . Kimbrough might have been one of Mississippi's most powerful voices, a worthy successor to Faulkner.".…
