Quarto, softcover, a rare 4 page pamphlet with Muir's full page photo on front, at back are: photo with Roosevelt , view of Yosemite, Range of Light and Muir's sketch of King's Canyon. This is a publication by the Tulare County Historical Society, 1971, Number 88. Muir wrote many letters to the San Francisco Bulletin in the 1870's and 1880's, later revised them for magazine articles, then for books. This letter was written in November 1875. Here he describes coming out of the mountains into civilization as he describes the farmers, the water ditch and budding agriculture in Tulare county. Book.

Included are lists of the members and officers of the club and a list of the members who died the previous year. Number 13 includes stories about Geronimo, Dodge City buffalo hunters, Bernard Irwin, M.D., E.A. Burbank, General Ely S. Parker, and M.H. Sherman. Also included are portraits of famous indians, illustrations, bibliographies for some of the stories, and an index. This copy is clean and solid with a former owner's bookplate on the front pastedown.

Very good. The head of the spine is bumped. The edges of the covers are lightly rubbed and stained. There is an enormous multitude of small dark stains on the top edge of the text block. Most likely foxing. Some of these stains are just barely visible in the top edges of the pages. The pages are quite clean. Foreword by Lawrence Clark Powell. The best available reference work on John Muir.
