Il trouve sa principale source d inspiration dans les paysages, parcs et jardins. Fasciné par la peinture de Bonnard, il s installe à Paris après la guerre. Lui-même coloriste hors-pair, ses premières uvres rejoignent celles des Nabis. Mais très vite, Kimura va exprimer une peinture beaucoup plus personnelle. Faisant place aux émotions, lignes et contre-lignes, il est proche de l expressionnisme abstrait américain d une Joan Mitchell ou d un Willem de Kooning. Sa peinture est spontanée, remplie de formes cachées qui laissent le spectateur perdu dans cet univers pictural. Ses uvres huiles et pastels nous plongent au plus profond de sa vision du monde, à la fois exaltée de couleurs et imprégnée d une sérénité intérieure.
