Heavily rubbed at ends of spine, along the spine folds and board edges, rubbed through at the tips, and the paper over boards is also heavily rubbed. endpapers are almost completely sound. The spine lettering, in gilt, reads "- - NDERLEY", no doubt the author's name. Both endpaper pastedowns are blind stamped "ARTHUR SAUNDERS K. LYNN", perhaps the binder. The title page continues: "of the rivers that pass through those places, and countries that border threupon, truly, faithfully, and impartially represented, and humbly proposed to the consideration of the inhabitants of those places and countries. with a way laid down how to remedy all the inconveniencies and defects which they now labour under." Pages: first leaf - blank; second leaf - foldout map; title page, blank, Dedication - v-viii; Preface ix-x; List of Subscribers - xi-xviii; Text - 1-108. The map is titled "A Map of the great LEVEL of the FENS, together with the Rivers that pass thru' the said LEVEL, into the BAY call'd METARIS ASTUARIUM" and dated 1751. The map is complete with an extra fold along the fore edge as well as two short tears. "An interesting annotated copy (by various hands): the front endpaper has the name "Robt. Pitcher Junr" written in ink at the top; the title page has the name "Robt. Allan Junr / Sunderland 1792" written in ink at the bottom of the page; the eight page List of Subscribers has the town written in ink besides many of the subscriber names; and the front pastedown has a later full page suggestion, wrtten in pencil, as to how this engineering treatise relates to the situation for the harbour of Comox, British Columbia, dated 1896. …
