Flint was a lively figure in the West and, especially, in the press and printing milieu of the early West. His travels in Ohio, Kentucky and then Missouri, including the Ohio Valley and Mississippi Valley, served as the basis for his own works. As an author, he is best known as the pen behind "A Biographical Memoir of Daniel Boone," which went through multiple printings. Of considerable value is "The Personal Narrative of James O. Pattie of Kentucky," which he edited and, in part, wrote. A handsome, desirable copy of the first edition. According to Clark and Brunet, 1,263 copies were printed. CLARK and BRUNET, 140; RADER, 2181.
