Delightful pages describe recreations and holidays. Mr. Klees is eloquent, too, on the subject of food, and even includes a generous number of recipes for tasty dishes. His epilogue, "A Pennsylvania Dutch Calendar," is a poetic, carefully observed account of the seasons. Himself a Pennsylvania Dutchman, Mr. Klees writes about them with great enthusiasm and affection and is a master of a clear, straight-forward style, touched with a lively sense of humor.
