Hardback, illustrated title label pasted to upper board, printed titling to spine. 20 × 15cm, 62pp. A charming if battered little book for girls on how to make sweets (marzipan, coffee walnuts, peppermint delight, date fondant etc), and on how to make and run a sweet stall. Illustrated throughout with illustrations by various artists. Condition: Fair condition. The boards and spine are heavily rubbed with some fraying, the inner binding is shaken and there is some foxing to the pages but the book remains in good readable condition.

Issued in pictorial boards without jacket, the book is more or less Fine with overall straight spine, sharp corners and firm spine ends. The page edges are toned with a clean interior text block. The title page states THIRD IMPRESSION.

Some coloured page decorations. In fawn paper-covered boards, with tipped in colour illustration on front pane, green titles on spine. Top edge gilt. 4to. Very slightly cocked. Boards a little worn and rubbed at edges. Two inked inscriptions on front free endpaper, dated 1915 and 1952 respectively. Endpapers a tad brown and spotted, else internally neat, clean, bright and tight. A gloriously illustrated tribute to the English countryside and art in nature.

Colour cover paste-down illustration is of two young women walking down a street in a Christmas setting. Bright, clean interior, unmarked, no inscriptions. Hinges are very tight and solid, no cracking. No wear to the olive-green cloth binding or the illustration. Titles and decoration to the spine are bright and unfaded. Almost perfect.
