Prior owner name penned to front endpage; scattered regular and red pencil underscoring here and there throughout. Several pages of facsimile manuscript and vintage printed journal pages reproduced on glossy stock. Cloth slightly faded at spine. Good only.

The play was banned after its premiere because of its inflammatory theme of corruption in politicians and contemporary society. Dvorák (1881-1933) was renowned as a leading playwright from the 1910s, also a translator and editor of the journal Nový scena. Fine illustrative cover design by famed architect and friend Jirí Kroha. Found in 4 North American libraries.
