Pamphlet. Condition: Very Good +. No Jacket. First Edition. Exceedingly rare tri-fold pamphlet on pink paper, illust in black with drawing of cigar smoking, hatted chap holding a black gollywog sort of puppet (we think?). Orig price 25c Is entirely devoted to horse racing tips including Ken Kling's amazingly simple handicapping system, he names 13 different horses and gives a key to deciphering the code presented. Lower half of last page talks of Baseball's Who's Who and mentions Hank Greenberg and his return to baseball after his discharge from the US Army. Also metions five active National League players who are the only five to have hit over 100 home runs as of 1945. VG condition without names, tears or soil but does have a staple hole at head and foot, Horiz crease across middle. KENNETH KLING (1870 - 1970) was the creator of the strip Joe and Asbestos, about horse racing. The strip was incredibly popular, not least because Kling, who would name real horses in the strip, had a knack for picking winners, and the readers came to believe he was giving out inside tips! Except for a brief break, Kling drew the strip until his death in 1970. A splendid gift offering for the hard-to-buy for race fan.
