Uit de voorrede blijkt dat de (onbekende) graveur eerst aan het werk is gegaan, waarna Klinkhamer bij de van 1 tot 288 genummerde afbeeldingen zijn teksten moest maken en daarbij de af en toe onlogische volgorde die de plaatsnijder gekozen had voor lief moest nemen.
