An English-language biography of one of the greatest tennis champions of the 1970s, whose remarkable career unfolded against the political backdrop of communist Czechoslovakia. The book chronicles his victories at the French Open in 1970 and 1971, his Wimbledon triumph in 1973, his two US Open finals, and his participation in the Davis Cup. It also explores his encounters with tennis legends such as Rod Laver, John Newcombe, Arthur Ashe, Stan Smith, and Björn Borg, as well as his contribution to the development of Czech tennis after his playing career. Richly illustrated with sporting and historical photographs, this book will appeal to tennis enthusiasts, collectors, and anyone interested in sports history.
