Auflage. 16 signierte Original-Holzschnitte des Kirchenmalers Augustin Kolb (1869-1942). --- Entstanden um 1922-25 --- Mit religiösen Motiven (oft Heilige, Christus am Kreuz etc.). --- Großformatig (Blattgröße ca. 65 x 52 cm; leicht variabel). --- Die Blätter sind fast durchgehend stark stockfleckig, öfter mit Randschäden. --- Augustin Kolb (verzeichnet in Thieme-Becker XXI, 1927, 221) wandte sich ab 1920 dem Holzschnitt zu; war dabei von den Künstlern des 15./16. Jahrhundert beeinflusst, v.a. Albrecht Dürer, ließ aber auch expressionistische Elemente mit einfließen, wie es typisch für die Beuroner Kunstschule ist. --- Seine Holzschnitte waren durchaus populär (wurden u.a. in der "Gartenlaube" abgedruckt), sind heute jedoch selten. --- Alle Blätter eigenhändig betitelt und handsigniert; die meisten noch mit eigenhändigem Zusatz "Originalholzschnitt." --- Titel: Höhen / Via Dolorosa / St. Hubertus [[als einziges Blatt nicht stockfleckig]] / Es ist vollbracht / Geweihtes Land / Parzifal / St. Christophorus / Erlösung / St. Martinus / Eremit / St. Hieroynmus / Ave Maria / Mata dolorosa / St. Bonifatius / St. Elisabeth / Alte Geschichten. --- Einliegend in einer (fremden) Flügelmappe. --- Zustand: Fast immer stark stockfleckig, teils mit Randschäden, selten mit kleineren Einrissen. --- Über Augustin Kolb (Quelle: wikipedia): Augustin Kolb (* 11. Juli 1869 in Güntersleben; 25. Dezember 1942 in Würzburg) war ein deutscher Kirchenmaler. Leben und Werk: Erste Erfolge hatte Kolb 1893, als er zusammen mit seinem Lehrmeister Franz Wilhelm Driesler (18541910) die Pfarrkirche Sankt Peter und Paul in Sächsenheim ausmalte. Auf die kirchliche Monumentalkunst legte er sich um 1920 fest, bei der Gelegenheit, als er die Kirche St. Cyriak in Oberkirch ausmalte. Augustin Kolb war unter anderem von der sogenannten Beuroner Kunstschule beeinflusst. Das hatte er mit vielen Kirchenexpressionisten der Zwischenkriegszeit gemein. Die Beuroner Kunstschule wird als Übergang von klassischer zu moderner Malerei angesehen. Kolb malte nach seinem Studium in München lange im Raum Offenburg. 1927 zog es ihn nach Köln und dann nach Kassel. Gegen Ende seines Lebens, um 1940, ging er dann in sein Heimatdorf Güntersleben zurück. Die meisten Werke Kolbs, wie etwa die Ausmalung der Recklinghäuser Liebfrauenkirche von 1923, sind nicht mehr erhalten. Erhalten ist jedoch die Komplettausmalung der St.-Johannes-Kirche (Taunusdom) im Bad Homburger Stadtteil Kirdorf. In der Dreifaltigkeitskirche Offenburg wurden um 1995 die Gemälde Kolbs wieder freigelegt. Weiterhin erhalten ist ein circa 200 m großes Deckengemälde mit der Darstellung der Himmelfahrt Christi in der Mauritiuskirche in Ibbenbüren. Signatur des Verfassers.…
