Hardcover. Condition: Fine. xii, 109, (1) pages. Original publisher's green cloth, spine and front decorated and lettered gilt. Frederick Charles Kolbe (1854-1936) Roman Catholic priest, educationalist, botanist, and missionary, born in South Africa. Educated in London, Paris and Rome. Published for The Catholic Truth Society of Ireland in association with the 'Art and Book Company', London. No mention of this title is made in the reconstructed list of the Society's publications issued in1949. *Library stamp in ink and blind of Loreto Hall, St. Stephen's Green, Dublin on preliminaries. With insert postcard addressed to the Mother M. Eucharia (Elizabeth Ryan), a pioneer of female higher education in Ireland, and sent from a pupil/colleague on Summer Holiday in Bangor, Wales. It would seem the Reverend Mother used it as a book mark while reading Kolbe. Four catalogues, bound in one volume. 4to, original tan cloth, gilt; original printed card covers bound in. Cumulative index and prices realized list bound in. 62, (2); 43, (1); 56; 12; (4) pages; 500 lots in all; fold-out color frontispiece; numerous color illustrations, prices realized list. Fine. The regular hardbound edition of Kolbe's 100th sale, available only to subscribers to his hardcover catalogues. Collecting the four separately published parts into one volume, the hardcover is both a fine reference to a wide range of exquisite material and a testament to Kolbe's abilities as a cataloguer. Fittingly, in a sale realizing a few heart-stopping prices, the highest price realized for a single lot was for a complete set (one of two possible) of his own catalogues, which brought $40,000.
