[Amsterdam ? ca. 1780-90]. A single sheet print, small diag- ional fold, recent hand colored, very good, clean, matted, print size: 13.5 x 18, sheet size 29.5 x 40 cm. R A R E A fine example of Chinese costume. Depticts two Chinese men, one a Mandarin, with typical black rimmed hat and red top, he wears a long que, smokes a very long pipe, & sports long finger nails, while wearing white felt shoes with embroidery on top. He wears a black silk-like jacket, and a long blue flowing 'skirt' with smoking accouterments dangling at his waist. The second is a Chinese scribe, who is writing down orders [?] and sits on a low bench besides a wide metal censor giving off smoke. The scribe wears a white shirt,with a pink vest, and wears a small hat, and shoes similar to the first man. He also wears large puffy pantaloons. He holds a bamboo brush, and a scroll with Chinese characters. Ready for display and framing.
