Deswegen werde ich mich in diesem Essay mit ihren wissenschaftlichen Veröffentlichungen zu Integration und Assimilation auseinandersetzen. Anschließend soll ihre (gemeinsame) Position der postkolonialistischen Kritik von Mark Terkessidis gegenübergestellt werden. Hierzu werde ich zunächst das Integrationskonzept von Esser und Heckmann darstellen und auf die Differenzen zwischen den beiden Autoren eingehen. Im Anschluss werde ich Mark Terkessidis' Kritik an Integrationskonzepten besprechen und seine Vorstellung von Interkultur thematisieren. Wissenschaftler und Wissenschaftlerinnen waren in ihrer Themenwahl und -bearbeitung eingeschränkt, Forschungsvorhaben mussten stets von einer zentralen Stelle genehmigt werden (wie dem Ministerium für Hoch- und Fachschulwesen, Ministerium für Volksbildung oder dem Institut für Marxismus-Leninismus beim Zentralkomitee der Sozialistischen Einheitspartei Deutschlands (SED)). Die Gewalttaten und -erfahrungen während der Vertreibungen, ebenso wie die Integrationserfahrungen der Vertriebenen auf dem Gebiet der heutigen fünf neuen Bundesländer, wurden in den historischen Aufarbeitungen der Kriegs- und Nachkriegsgeschehnisse in der Sowjetischen Besatzungszone und der DDR größtenteils ignoriert. Die Geschichte wurde öffentlich nur einseitig betrachtet, die Verbrechen wurden dem deutschen Faschismus zugeschrieben, ohne sie in Beziehung zur eigenen, bzw. kollektiven Verantwortung der Deutschen insgesamt (also auch der DDR) zu setzen. Die Gewalttaten, die von den sowjetischen Truppen und bestimmten Bevölkerungsgruppen während der Vertreibungen ausgingen, wurden verschwiegen. Das Aussparen der Aufarbeitung eines wichtigen Teils deutscher und europäischer Geschichte unterhöhlte die angestrebten und propagierten freundschaftlichen Beziehungen der DDR vor allem zu seinen östlichen Nachbarländern Polen und der Tschechoslowakei.…
