pp. (34) + single fold-out. Polish-born artist Ewa Partum is considered a pioneer of Eastern European feminist art produced within the conceptual idiom. Partum founded the Galeria Adres in the spring of 1972 in ?ód?, where she moved from Warsaw in 1971, and initially located her gallery in a small space under the steps of the offices of the Association of Polish Artists (Zwi?zek Polskich Artystów Plastyków, or ZPAP). In her gallery, Partum emphasised the importance of art theory to her practice, with the aim of the gallery to maintain contact with leading art theoreticians such as Andrzej Kosto?owski in Poland, László Beke in Hungary, and Klaus Groh in West Germany. In 1972, using ZPAP facilities without requesting permission from the organisation, Partum self-published ?Theses on Art No 1?17?, a seminal text on conceptual art by Andrezj Kosto?owski, which remains one of the most important historical texts on conceptual art written in Polish. In the 1970s Kosto?owski was actively involved in the activities of the conceptual movement. He participated in numerous exhibitions, initially as a theoretician, later as an artist. As part of the NET - formulated in 1971 together with the artist Jaros?aw Koz?owski - he attempted to create an independent, international network of artists, the existence of which would allow for a direct exchange of artistic ideas. In this booklet, each of Kosto?owski?s seventeen short theses, a few of which take the form of diagrams, are also translated into English.
