Softbound in 8.5x5.5 inch decorated red wraps, an excellent copy: sound, clean and unmarked in any way. Looking over the reproductions one can see why interest lagged: Rosenthal was enamored with sentimental narrative, not the splendid Californiana of natural views. Nor was he even a runner-up to "the American Rembrandt", whose name we cannot at the moment recollect.…
