After the revolution he emigrated to Finland. Before leaving abroad, he published four books: a cycle of three books about the elephant s friends Moka and Mishuk and a historical play in verse Mikhail Vladimirovich Romanov . The first book in the series Moka the Elephant and Mishuk (1911) was published under the pseudonym Vl. Toptygin; the other two Moka the Elephant and Mishuk at Home (1913), Moka the Elephant and Mishuk on a Journey (1914) under the author s real name and surname.
