Jahrhunderts, der als Vorläufer der modernen Karikaturisten die Sitten und Gebräuche seiner Zeit schonungslos und mit beißender Ironie anprangerte.- Der Londoner Kupferstecher Thomas Cook (um 1744-1818) ist vor allem bekannt für seine Kopie des kompletten Kupferstichwerks von William Hogarth, das 1806 unter dem Titel 'Hogarth Restored' veröffentlicht wurde. Viele von Hogarths Drucken waren sehr selten und bis zu diesem Zeitpunkt noch nicht veröffentlicht worden. 1808 fertigte Cook dann mit dem hier vorliegenden Werk eine verkleinerte Folge seiner Hogarth-Stiche an.- Vereinzelt und meist im breiten weißen Außenrand leicht stock- oder fingerfleckig, nur 2 Tafeln am Schluss sowie das Faksimile etwas stärker stockfleckig.- Art. Many of Hogarth's prints were very rare and had not been published until then. In 1808, Cook produced a reduced series of his Hogarth engravings with the work presented here. - Occasional and mostly slight foxing or finger stains in the wide white outer margin, only 2 plates at the end and the facsimile slightly more foxed.
