Er hat das Kommunikationsdesign in Deutschland mitgepragt und zur Neudefinition kunstlerischer Auffassung beigetragen (vgl. sein Standardwerk: ,Wo der Buchstabe das Wort fuhrt"). Weidemann ist seit uber 30 Jahren in der Lehre tatig. Fur sein Werk wurde er mehrfach ausgezeichnet. Manfred Kroplien, geb.1937, ist Professor fur Grafikdesign und Leiter des Instituts fur Buchgestaltung an der Staatlichen Akademie der Bildenden Kunste in Stuttgart. Er entwarf Erscheinungsbilder und Gestaltungsrichtlinien fur die IBM, lehrte an der HFG Ulm und ist Autor mehrerer Bucher (u. a.: ,Die Philosophie der neuen Grafik"). ,Kurtstexte" zeigen Kurt Weidemann von seiner nicht veroffentlichten und nicht offentlichen Seite. Er spricht uber Kunst und Design, frei nach der Erkenntnis: ,Der Kunstler macht, was er will. Und der Designer will, was er macht." In kurzen Essays, bei Reden auf Vernissagen, am Telefon - gelegentlich witzig, gelegentlich ironisch, immer nachdenklich.
