2 SS. Qu.-8vo. An einen Sanitätsrat: Bei Ihrer Frau Schwägerin finde ich allgemeine Splanchnoptose, an der besonders die rechte Niere u. der Magen betheiligt sind. Der rechte Leberlappen ist ein wenig ausgezogen, unterhalb des Leberrandes fühlt man neben der rechten Niere die Gallenblase circa walnußgroß. Es handelt sich meiner Auffassung nach um einen Krampf, der von der Gallenblase ausgegangen u. voraussichtlich durch das Vorhandensein eines Gallensteines bedingt worden ist. Ich habe der Patientin Diätvorschriften gegeben, ein Pulver verordnet, Ruhe u. für die nächsten 810 Tage Leinsamenumschläge angerathen [.]". Leopold Kuttner war ärztlicher Direktor des Rudolf Virchow-Krankenhauses in Berlin und Vorsitzender des Vereins der Chefärzte an den städtischen Kranken- und Heilanstalten Großberlins. Lepold Kuttner (1866-1931) in Berlin described another flexible instrument based on an entirely different principle. His gastroscope consisted of two concentric tubes made of metallic Segments of equal length linked by hinges. If the joints were in the same plane, the whole instrument was flexible. If the tubes were turned on their own axes, so that the joints of one tube did not overlie those of the other, the instrument became straight and rigid. The two tubes were introduced, one inside the other; once in the stomach, the instrument was straightened by rotating the inner tube so that the joints of the Segments of both tubes were facing each other on the same plane. However, although this instrument was in theory much simpler than that of Kelling and could be introduced and manipulated in a seated patient, it was in practice difficult to use as the rotation manoeuvres were never easy and sometimes required vigorous handling of the tubes. Originalarbeit. - *** Erstdruck. *** PIONIER DER GASTROSKOPIE! *** Leopold Kuttner (*1866 in Glogau/Glogów, 1931 in Berlin), deutscher Mediziner, Internist. *** Leopold Kuttner absolvierte seine Ausbildung zum Internisten bei Carl Anton Ewald am Berliner Augustahospital. 1906 wurde er zum Ärztlichen Leiter der II. Medizinischen Klinik am Rudolf-Virchow-Krankenhaus in Berlin gewählt und übernahm 1910 die Ärztliche Direktion dieses großen Städtischen Klinikums. Kuttner war vielfältig engagiert; so war er Vorsitzender der Chefärzte an den städtischen Krankenanstalten Großberlins. Der Gesellschaft für Verdauungs- und Stoffwechselkrankheiten gehörte er seit 1913/14 als Mitglied des Ausschusses an; von Boas wurde er als Kuttner beschäftigte sich frühzeitig mit der technischen Weiterentwicklung der Endoskope; so konstruierte er ein gegliedertes Gastroskop und stellte umfangreiche Untersuchungen zur Gastro-Diaphanoskopie mit Modifikationen des von Max Einhorn vorgestellten Instrumentes (Gastrodiaphan") an. Ebenso befasste er sich mit der Technik der Rektoskopie. Später interessierten ihn vornehmlich die Magenkrankheiten, besonders die Achylia gastrica, das Magenulcus und die diätetische Therapie. Zudem beschäftigte er sich mit dem Magen- und Kolon- Karzinom sowie mit der bakteriologischen Untersuchung des Duodenalsekretes. Kuttner setzte sich lange Zeit für den Ausbau der Gesellschaft ein. So ist es gewiss kein Zufall, dass unter seinem Vorsitz die 5. Tagung zu einen Markstein wurde: aus den Tagungen wurde eine Gesellschaft. Am 3. Oktober 1925 beschloss die Mitgliederversammlung in Ordentlicher Geschäftssitzung" Satzung und Geschäftsordnung. Das Mitgliederverzeichnis wies am Ende des Kongresses 150 Mitglieder aus.
