An extremely scarce and engaging children's work in Yiddish, on the subject of domestic animals. The text throughout is written by the acclaimed Yiddish poet Leib Kvitko (1890-1952), and accompanied by a total of 12 charming chromolithographic illustrations of the animals (including the covers) by soviet artist Alexander Pestun-Dibrovski (1905-1951). In the text, each animal is named, followed by poetic text about the animal. Images included present cats, dogs, horses, cows, pigs, sheep, chickens, ducks, and others. As evidenced by the text on the back cover, this publication is #7 in a now quite scarce series of illustrated children's booklets "Kuk un leyen" (Look and Read), issued by the publisher (publisher's ads in Yiddish). Text throughout in Yiddish, with additional publication information on the back wrapper in Ukrainian. Wrappers with some minor smudges. Light age toning along the left side of the front wrapper, minor stains and smudges to the back wrapper. Interior clean throughout, with text and images vibrant.
