Hardcover. Condition: Fair. No Jacket. Limited. 208 text pages, plus 24 color plates and 49 b/w figure illustrations. Fair condition only. Text in English. A Limited/Numbered Edition limited for sale in British Empire to 750 copies - but this copy is not numbered. The exterior is red cloth with title - faint on the spine - in gold. The spine cloth is rubbed at edges and worn at top and bottom. The lower front corner is bumped, Top edge is gilt. The interior front free endpaper has a prior owner name. One plate is loose. The interior is unmarked and clean, so quite a useful reference. Preface by William Burton. A reading copy only - but complete and useful.

Pages and plates have light tanning and foxing throughout. Slight cracking to gutters with exposed netting, plate to page 59 detached but still present. Pencil inscription to front free endpaper. Boards have light shelf-wear with corner bumping. Slight crushing to spine ends. Water mark to front board.
