He writes of his experiences and feelings of the war as his unit participates in the Aisne-Marne, Oise-Aisne, and the Muse-Argonne Offensives. While not quite a diary, it does contain a great deal of the action of warfare during the Great War against the German Army and continues to his arrival back in the USA in July of 1919.
