Hardcover. Condition: Good. No Jacket. Journey Through Arabia Petraea, to Mount Sinai, and the Excavated City of Petra, the Edom of the Phrophecies. By Leon de Labrode and printed in London by John Murray. 1838 second edition. [28] + 340 + [8] pp. 9" x 6". 8vo. Hardcover full cloth. As-is, with spine having been rebacked. Some bumping and wear along edges and corners of boards. Hinges remain in good condition. Binding split in middle, with center-most section of pages detaching. Light markings. Includes publisher's catalog at rear. Includes an assortment of black-and-white plates and in-text sketches throughout, with one appearing to be moved to act as a frontispiece. General age-related toning to pages, along with periodic foxing and wear. Includes foldout map. Please see photographs and ask any questions prior to purchasing. Appears to be the second total edition and first English edition, having been first published in French in 1830. A scarce account of the author's travels in and around modern-day Jordan in 1828, with the author producing some of the first modern views of the area. A wonderful candidate for restoration and rebinding. COLT1838GKLX.
