Marbled endpapers. Ribbon marker. Remarkable facsimile of the 1821 first British edition of Laennec's "Treatise on the Diseases of the Chest" complete with its 8 full-page engraved plates at rear. René-Théophile-Hyacinthe Laennec invented the stethoscope in 1816, while working at the Hôpital Necker and pioneered its use in diagnosing various chest conditions. Binding and interior in fine condition.
