Hardcover. Condition: Fair. First Edition. Navy blue cloth covers with silver lettering on spine and front cover, along with the insignia for the U. S. S Missouri Association. The covers are a bit scuffed but in good condition. The text block is poorly glued to the spine and while the hinges aren't loose, there is glue residue visible and does need to be handled with care. The endpages are a bit ragged. The contents are clean and complete. The previous owner's name (A. Goffredo, MAA) is written in ink on the front end page. ; The USS Missouri was an Iowa class battleship that served in the Pacific Theater and was the ship that the Japanese surrender was signed on. She served two tours during the Korean War. She was modernized in 1984 and served in the Persian Gulf. This commemotive book was done in 1980 to celebrate two anniversaries- the surrender of Japan (1945) and the Missouri's first "retirement" in 1955. It is a loving tribute to the ship and her shipmates, profusely illustrated from photos, newspaper clippings, drawings, maps and other illustrations. ; Black and white illustrations and photos; Oblong 8vo 8 3/4" x 11 1/2"; 116 pages pages.
