Enfant prodige, le périgourdin de Lagrange-Chancel (1677-1758) écrivit de lui-même : "Je ne savais p…as lire que je savais rimer". Monté à Brdeaux puis à Paris, il sera protégé par Louis XIV qui le confia à Racine. Opposé au Régent, il publia contre ce dernier des "Philippiques" qui firent scandale. Emprisonné aux Iles de Lérins, il s'en évada et gagna l'Espagne puis la Hollande. Langue: Français.
