La autora imagina a un alter ego suyo, que lleva el simbólico nombre de Lucía Sapiens, y a una amiga de esta, Selam, ambas en la veintena, que se lanzan a recorrer el sur de Argentina y Chile tras los pasos de Darwin en su viaje en el Beagle, el cual narró en su Diario del viaje de un naturalista alrededor del mundo. Lucía Sapiens en este otro Diario nos revela su admiración por el gran científico inglés, su curiosidad insaciable ante todo lo que ve (fauna, flora, geología), su ingenuidad casi adolescente ante un mundo desconocido y su deslumbramiento ante la naturaleza. "Pasados casi 160 años desde la aparición de El origen de las especies, parece mentira que todavía debamos empeñarnos en divulgar el conocimiento sin el cual no se puede entender el desarrollo de la vida en nuestro planeta. También parece mentira que se insista en enseñar en las escuelas teorías al respecto que han sido ya ampliamente refutadas, dedicando muy poco esfuerzo a explicar correctamente la teoría de Darwin. Es necesario dar el paso.

An excellent overall copy of this uncommon text, published in reaction to The Black Book of Communism (1997), which is considered one of the most influential and controversial books about the history of communism in the 20th century. The Livre Noir, published by collective-led publishing house 'Le Temps Des Crises', comprises a series of independent works from a range of historians, sociologists, economists, trade unionists and writers who each voice their critique on various aspects of capitalism. The appendix notably provides a list of 20th-century death-tolls attributed to the capitalist system covering colonial wars, anti-communist campaigns, mass killings and ethnic conflicts. Softcover, 427 pgs. Binding solid and square. Interior generally clean, though first 10-15 pages have some neat, vertical pen lines in occasionally along the margins. and the last free endpaper has a single sentence note written in ink. Rest of the text is unmarked, pages bright and clean. Covers have some rubbing and scuffing throughout, with a small bit of bumping to one part of the top and foreedge of the front cover. Overall an attractive edition of this unusual and scarce book.
