Hardcover. Condition: VG. Dust Jacket Condition: VG. Photos (illustrator). Second Impression. Almost certainly the best-known of all the Wild West law enforcement marshals, Wyatt Earp, is described by the author in his foreward as ". a man of action. He was born, reared and lived in an environment which held words and theories of small account, in which sheer survival often, and eminance invariably, might be achieved through deeds alone." He was a central figure in the famed gun-fight at the OK Corral, only one of the many encounters which made him famous and enabled him to live until he was 80, and outlive those who confronted him. This biography is based on interviews Lake had with Wyatt Earp during his last years --- he died early in 1929. The first English impression of the book was published by Peter Nevill in October 1952, this second impression following in January 1953, 392 pages, including index. 17 b/w photos, mainly Earp, his associates and his most notorious adversaries, Red hard covers with slightly dulled gilt spine titles are VG with small fade area spine top and few spots to spine strip, light wear spine extremities, ink former owner name top FFEP, otherwise internally VG+. Price clipped wrap-round colour art DJ (depicting OK Corral) has wear to flap edges/spine hinges, small sections missing spine top and base, few tape repaired short tears, few chips.
