Half Title page states reprinted with Extra Notes from Archaeologia…Cantiana, one of 75 copies only for Presentation. ink inscription to top of first illustrated page states it is for The Rev Charles Hawley to whom we are indebted for discovery and preservation of the relic described in the following pages from his very sincere friend. So looks like dedication from the author. The Rev. Charles Hawley, was the Rector of the parish,who discovered the shrines while restoring the plaster and executing some repairs in the north aisle of the church. Later in 1874 his brother Sir Joseph Hawley (1813-1875) paid for the restoration of the church. the Revd. Charles Hawley, was also the Hon. Canon of Rochester, The Hawley family still holds the patronage. Condition Maroon hard back binding in fair/poor condition as lacks spine & covers fair, some rubbing etc. (see scans). Contents fair, front/rear pages with quite a bit of foxing, centre pages mostly only a very little foxing. Size: 26 x 32cm Approx. Dedicated from the Author.
