Februar 1987 in Stuttgart) war ein deutscher Verkehrswissenschaftler. Walther Lambert studierte Bauingenieurwesen an der TH Stuttgart und wurde 1936 in den Dienst der Deutschen Reichsbahn übernommen. In den Jahren 1936 bis 1938 und 1948 bis 1950 war er wissenschaftlicher Assistent bei Carl Pirath in Stuttgart, dazwischen saß er im Vorstand des Betriebsamts Aachen und war Betriebsdezernent der Reichsbahndirektion in Köln. Von 1951 bis zum Ruf an seine alte Hochschule als Nachfolger Piraths, war Lambert Planungsdezernent an der Bundesbahndirektion Stuttgart, mit dem Projekt der S-Bahn Stuttgart. Zwischenzeitlich wurde er mit der Dissertation Die vertikale Auflockerung des Großstadtverkehrs ? ein Raum- und Kostenproblem der schienengebundenen Verkehrsmittel zum Doktor promoviert. 1955 wurde er Professor für Eisenbahn- und Verkehrswesen der Technischen Hochschule Stuttgart und Direktor des Verkehrswissenschaftlichen Instituts an der TH Stuttgart, was er bis 1975 blieb.
