Prima edizione. Politi Lancellotto (Ambrogio Catarino da religioso), teologo domenicano di Siena (1484c.-1553). Fu spesso in Francia; a Napoli frequentò il circolo di Vittoria Colonna. Partecipò al Concilio di Trento come consultore nelle prime sessioni. Polemizzò contro i luterani e contro Bernardino Ochino. La sua produzione teologica è vastissima. Seguono altre due opere controversistiche: la Reprobatione de la dottrina di frate Bernardino Ochino, . e la Resolutione sommaria contro . il Sommario de la Sacra Scrittura, . . Il Trattato utilissimo del beneficio di Giesu Christo crocifisso, verso i christiani (Venezia, Bindoni, 1543), definito da D. Cantimori un'opera esemplare del movimento italiano di rinnovamento dottrinale ed ecclesiastico, ., ebbe uno straordinario successo ed è qui confutato dal Politi che fu il primo a capire quanto l'anonimo autore dovesse a Lutero, Melantone, Bucero e Calvino. Il Sommario, rarissimo nessuna copia in Italia, era la traduzione italiana dalla versione francese di un libretto olandese stampato all'inizio degli anni '20, la Summa der godliker Scristuren, testo a sua volta tratto da un originale latino, la Oeconomica christiana. La prima traduzione italiana era comparsa a Genova, anonima e s.n.t., presumibilmente intorno al 1534. Importante documento per entrare nel vivo del dibattito teologico suscitato da queste tre opere.
