This undated "folio de luxe" of romantic street scenes was announced as a limited edition in The Quill Vol. 1 No. 6 of November 1917. Several of these images had appeared in the pages of that magazine of Village artistic and bohemian life. In his historical résumé, Dr. I. L. Nascher credits John George Brown, the painter of "ragged urchins," and Albert Bierstadt with establishing the first artist's studios there.Quite scarce: OCLC locates only two institutional copies (Brooklyn and Philadelphia).
