Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. First edition. First edition. Hardcover in green cloth lettered in yellow. Illustrated endpapers. 200 pp. Illustrated with photographs by the author. Very good, no jacket. The author relates the story of his automobile trip that began on the East Coast but is described in detail once he got to Edmonton, Dawson Creek and then travelled the army-controlled portion of the 1300+-mile Alaska Highway. It was constructed during World War II to provide a contiguous U.S. to Alaska route through Canada. When Lanks made the trip about which writes in this book, the route, completed in 1942, was not yet officially open (it would be in 1948). It reached practically as far as Fairbanks beyond which it forked a bit north and west.
