Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. Text in fonic English pioneered by this professor at Lewisburg College in PA (now Bucknell University), first impression is that the guy couldn't spell very well, but he wrote a whole series of books in this strange lingo, somewhat German in words, mainly English, some cro…ss-overs from other languages, a real mish mash, amusing, VG condition, 1st edn. He lists self as an M. D. but one wonders what that has to do with anything here, 64pps with copious notes plus more of his books listed in rear. Surprised that he was his own publisher? Paper spine title clean and clear to read.

Hardcover. Condition: Good++. 1st Edition. Title continues: "a Description of the Tours taken, and of the Field Work done, by the Class in Geography in the Academy of Science and Art at Ringos, N.J., during the Year 1882." Illustrated with diagrams and maps and finely narrated, this detailed account of the travels and studies of… a class of geography is as much an entertaining and instructive journey through Ringos' key places, as it is a useful practical tool for any interested in tenting and natural sciences. Filled with many geographical and scientific as well as technical details, the work is a relevant reference book for scholars. Unique publication using diacritical marks throughout. Cloth. Condition: Very Good +. First Edition. A tight, very presentable copy of the 1883 1st edition. Hardcover. Condition: Very Good+. 510 Pages. Printed in the phonetic type. This is a book of the author's reminiscences of teaching in Hunterdon County, NJ. The book's exterior has lightly worn areas on all four corners, worn spots at the upper right and left and lower right and left corners of the spine, some rubbing on the spin…e, and worn spots along the front cover. The interior book's main detriment is when bound, certain pages were omitted, specifically pages 105 - 112 and pages 281 - 288. Outside of this detriment, and some printer ink spots on a few pages, the book's interior has no further visible distractions/detriments and no visible extraneous markings. The bindings on this old book also remain tight and therefore are sound. Suppose you buy this book from us, it will be carefully wrapped up, padded, boxed, and mailed right off to you and will come with our absolute gratitude for your interest in the book and your order of it.

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. First edition. Original brown cloth. 124, [6 ads] pp., two plates. Small owner label front pastedown, hinges neatly strengthened, modest wear at the extremities of the boards, very good. In effect a narrative, Dr. Larison visited the reportedly 116-year-old formerly enslaved woman in her hut in t…he mountains of Hunterdon County, New Jersey and took down her extraordinary life story in her own words (and in his own phonetic spelling). The plates picture Sylvia and her primitive hut. Sylvia, incidentally, lasted several more years. Larison was an eccentric who printed his own idiosyncratic books in an outbuilding on his property, using phonetic spelling, and distributed the books himself. A splendid and uncommon narrative.
