Twentieth Edition. 8vo, pictorial cloth with an Indian boy astride a giant eagle, title page illustrated by John Rae plus several full-color full-page plates and a few tailpieces, pictorial endpapers by Rae, not paginated = ~ 90 pages. Gorgeous and evocative Pictures by John Rae plus engaging young-person appropriate fairy tales retold by W. T. Larned. John Rae (1882-1963) attended the Art Students League of New York and was a student of Howard Pyle. He wrote and illustrated many children's books, including The New Adventures of Alice, Grasshopper Green and the Meadow Mice. UNCOMMON though Worn copy with edges rubbed and corners bumped. Stain along lower portion of rear cover. The Wonderful Plates By Rae are bright and without doodles. Writing by child once at midbook along lower page margin. Hinge somewhat weakened midbook but holding.
