In the early part of the twentieth century it was realised that the many hundreds of Turkish carpets decorating remote Transylvanian churches were an important record of an age of Turkish weaving whose products had otherwise largely vanished The rugs came to be there because it seems that the local community developed an enthusiastic taste for oriental carpets when Transyvania was under Ottoman influence. 'Tapis Turcs', which is the basis of this book was originally published in Paris in 1925. It consisted as a portfolio of thirty loose plates and a brief introduction. This edition has been enlarged by the authors and includes the 30 large colour plates reproduced from the original portfolio. Ref AA1.

Edizione originale ed unica. Referenziale e pionieristica monografia sui tappeti di manifattura turca serbati nelle chiese protestanti e nelle collezioni della Transilvania. Il volume fu edito sotto gli auspici del Museo Ungherese delle Arti Decorative che, nel 1914, aveva organizzato una grande esposizione di tali tappeti comprendente oltre 300 pezzi.
