The Collectors' Digestwas founded in 1946 by Herbert Leckenby, who was succeeded as editor/publisher by Eric Fayne in November 1959, and by Mary Cadogan in 1987. In the 1960s it merged with The Story Paper Collector, which had been founded in Canada in 1941 by William H. Gander.
