First Edition
Paper Covered Boards. Condition: Very Good+. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good-. Author (illustrator). First American Edition. This 101 pp. book contains poems, all written about battle and warfare by a soldier, who wrote many while in the trenches. Published during World War I, before America formally entered the war, the book has an amazingly SCARCE 101 year old dust jacket. Most books at that time were not yet published with dust jackets, and of the few that were, virtually none have survived until today. This one, not only survived, but other than a 1/4" slit on the top front edge, and some light soiling, is in excellent condition. The binding is kahki colored paper and red cloth spine. Red lettering on the front board and gilt lettering on the spine. Prior owner's name on the first blank endpaper. Photos upon request.
