San Mateo: 1955. 4to, 132pp. Full red morocco extra, lined with green morocco ;pastedowns etc., full red morocco slipcase. A very fine copy. § The home guest book for the jeweler Ralph Lee (partner in Gensler Lee) and his wife Violette. With over 500 glowing entries about the house, the estate, and the Lee family from visitors from all over the world, including Shanghai, Palestine, Rome, Prussia, Burma, Panama, England, Canada, and Hawaii. The Palestinian businessman Suleiman Tannous, an early guest, wrote that "It is a great privilege to see a typical American home. The hospitality I had in this home was above my expectations." As locals, the Lees may have commissioned this binding in San Francisco; the quality of the work is excellent.
