Ribbed green cloth, gilt lettered on spine and front board. Kovalevsky was the first major Russian female mathematician. She made important original contributions to analysis, differential equations and mechanics; the first woman appointed to a full professorship in Northern Europe; and one of the first women to edit a scientific journal.
