Dan volgt een bespreking van de werkzaamheden en bevoegdheden van de `udül, de beroepsgetuigen die een essentiële rol vervullen bij het opstellen van huwelijks- en verstotingsakten. Nederlandse en Belgische rechters, advocaten en ambtenaren van de Burgerlijke Stand komen vaak met hun akten in aanraking. Het derde deel beschrijft de beleving en werking van de wettelijke regels in het alledaagse leven in Marokko, zowel in de stad als op het platteland.
