Jahrhunderts, der sich der Bewahrung des Erbes von Le Mans widmete. In den späten 1800er Jahren tätig, spezialisierte er sich auf das, was er Le Mans Pittoresque nannte eine Bewegung zur Dokumentation der mittelalterlichen und frühneuzeitlichen Wahrzeichen der Stadt, bevor diese der städtischen Modernisierung zum Opfer fielen. -- Die Aufnahmen dokumentieren das ehemalige Hôtel-Dieu sowie das Hôpital Général von Le Mans und deren Umgebung am linken Ufer der Sarthe. Die Fotos konzentrieren sich auf die kirchlich geprägten Räume, die Außenansichten der Gebäude, eine Küche sowie Schlafsäle mit vielen Betten, etc. Diese Bilder verdeutlichen, dass die Anlage vor allem ein Ort war, an dem Kranke, Arme und Waisen untergebracht und versorgt wurden.
