Two charming anthologies from respected British poets Leonard Ley and A. Nicholson Tucker. A Pot Pourri of Verse (1929, privately printed by W. Heffer and Sons), and a signed Dart, Loveliest of Rivers, and other Devon Poems (1952, Arthur H. Stockwell).Pot Pourri is in the publisher's original blue cloth, while Dart is in the publisher's original brown paper boards. Dart contains Tucker's signed inscription on the front free end paper, and an interwar frontispiece of the poet.Originally from Exeter, Leonard Ley became a G.P. in East Anglia after studying at Pembroke College, Cambridge and serving in the First World War. A budding poet in his spare time, his abstract anthology A Pot Pourri of Verse demonstrates his love for language.Dart, Loveliest of Rivers is a celebration of the county of Devon and its glorious outdoors by Tucker. Wishing to communicate both his happy memories and the beauty of nature, the anthology often adopts a light-hearted tone. A personal anthology, Tucker also delves into his war experiences on the Macedonian Front and grief over lost friends. In the publisher's original blue cloth (Pot) and brown paper boards (Dart). The small odd spot to end papers of Dart. Tucker's signed inscription to the front paste down. Internally, firmly bound, with marginal wear to hinge between leaves pp.22-23 of Pot. Pages are bright and generally clean, with a couple of small tidemarks to bottom of leaves pp.56-57 of Pot and the small odd spot to extremities of leaves of Dart, mostly to first leaves.
