Add to basketSoft cover. Condition: Very Good. An attractive mid-century popular music issue featuring The Hilltoppers, one of the most successful vocal harmony groups of the early 1950s. The song was written by Leonard Whitcup and Paul Cunningham, with an Italian translation by Alan Gerard and Pat Noto, reflecting the era's fascination with… Italian-themed popular songs. While the copyright remains 1949, this printing dates to approximately 1954, identified by its promotion of the Hilltoppers' Dot Records recording and by the rear-cover advertisements for Randy-Smith Music titles copyrighted 1952-1953. The front cover features an engaging studio portrait of The Hilltoppers, credited in the lower-right corner to "Bruno of Hollywood." Condition: Very Good. Complete and sound with moderate handling wear, light corner creasing, edge wear, and age toning. Several small edge creases and light surface rubbing to the covers. Interior music pages remain clean and fully legible with no writing, tape repairs, or significant tears observed. Ghosting in upper right cover corner, likely from a price tag. No residual remains. A solid collectible example suitable for display or performance. The cover photograph is by Bruno Bernard (1912-1987), professionally known as "Bruno of Hollywood" (later better known as Bernard of Hollywood), one of Hollywood's most celebrated glamour and celebrity photographers. Although he is most famous today for his iconic photographs of Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor, Rita Hayworth, and other Golden Age stars, Bernard also photographed entertainers and recording artists for publicity and commercial music publishing. His work was honored by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in 1984, and his famous image of Marilyn Monroe over the subway grate was later selected by the Museum of Modern Art as one of the twentieth century's defining photographs. His credit on a piece of commercial sheet music adds a noteworthy crossover between music publishing and Hollywood photographic history. Cover photo by Bruno Bernard (illustrator).
