Two decorated initial letters, three chapter tailpieces. In Latin (chiefly) and Greek. A very nice early 20th Century binding of half dark blue morocco, marbled boards, four raised cands, gilt lettering and devices, T. S. F. in gilt at foot of the backstrip, matching marbled endpapers, two decorated initial letters and three tailpieces. Apart from a bold asterisk on the title and some light foxing a near fine copy with no other obvious faults. First edition. Matching binding with the three other Allatii authored volumes we have.

A very nice early 20th Century binding of half dark blue morocco, marbled boards, four raised cands, gilt lettering and devices, T. S. F. in gilt at foot of the backstrip, matching marbled endpapers, two decorated initial letters and three tailpieces, one elaborate full-page of a bee, (strangely, an identical bee appears on the title vignette of Allatii's De utriusque ecclesiae occidentalis published by Iosephum lunam Moronitam also in Rome in 1655). Apart from three minute holes in 195/6, a paper flaw, as the adjacent leaves 193/4 and 197/8 are not affected, a little light foxing and some signatures lightly toned a near fine copy. Matching binding with the three other Allatii authored volumes we have.

In Latin and Greek. ex-library, vellum cover is soiled, call number & label on spine, crack near top of spine, top headband is mostly missing, bottom headband is nearly detached, stamp & bibliographic label inside front cover, cracking inside covers, stamp on title page, numbers in margin of 1st text page, part of 3rd last blank page is missing.
