Uniformly bound in bright blue cloth over boards with gilt rules and lettering to the spine, Shevchenko's signature embossed in gilt to the front boards, and prominently bearing the Ukrainian trident (tryzub) to the base of each volume in gilt, speckled edges. Black-and-white progressive portrait frontispieces of Shevchenko as he matured, each volume accompanied with many additional black-and-white, and colour plates of engravings, illustrations and facsimiles. Extremities exceptionally, and uniformly well-preserved, contents equally without blemish with bright, clean, and unmarked leaves and firm, sound binding. Overall, near fine. Exceptionally scarce offering of Shevchenko's magnum opus, Kobzar, complete in four volumes as published by the Ukrainian Free Academy of Sciences in partnership with noted Ukrainian-Canadian publisher, the Trident Press Ltd., of Winnipeg, Canada.
