Khatchkars, or cross-stones, are a significant part of Armenian cultural and religious heritage, featuring intricately carved cross motifs and elaborate designs that symbolize the Christian faith and often commemorate significant events or individuals. This tradition, which dates back to the 9th century, continues to be a prominent artistic and religious practice in Armenia, with each khatchkar uniquely designed with floral patterns, geometric shapes, and inscriptions in Armenian script. Found commonly in churchyards, monastic complexes, and cemeteries, these stones serve as both religious symbols and works of art reflecting the history and identity of the Armenian people.
