It is one of the most well known waterfalls in Austria. Printed after the painting of Emil Ludwig Löhr (1809-1876 in München) , a very famous German landscape painter. Emil Ludwig Löhr (1809-1876 in Munich) was a German landscape painter. He was the son of the banker August Löhr, who moved to Vienna in 1818. Here L. Löhr received his artistic training under Leopold Kupelwieser. He went to Rome for further studies and, under the influence of Joseph Anton Koch, turned to landscape painting. Löhr returned to Germany from Italy in 1840 because of malaria. He moved to Munich with his family. For several years in the summer, because of his illness, he went to Bad Gastein for relief, where he painted many landscapes.
